Botswana or the Republic of is a country located in sub – Saharan Africa and South Africa . Is protected by a British precedent known as Bachuana Land and Botswana adopted its new name after it was independence within the Commonwealth of Nations on September 30 , 1966. held free and fair democratic elections since independence. Geographically, the country is flat and most of them (70%) Kalahari Desert . It is bordered by South Africa to the south and southeast , Namibia to the west and north , and Zimbabwe to the north – east. Meets Zambia at one pointt.
Botswana is one of the greatest development in the world’s success stories. The country’s small and landlocked, home to some 1.9 million people and was one of the poorest countries in Africa with a GDP per capita of US $ 70 at independence from Britain in 1966. In the four decades that followed independence, Botswana itself moved into the ranks of middle-income homeowners to become one of the the fastest growing economies in the world in terms of average annual growth rate of about 9%.
Botswana’s track record in the area of good governance and economic growth with the support of prudent financial management of the macro economy, which stands in contrast to the high levels in the country out of poverty and inequality and generally low human development indicators. While economic development in Botswana in improving the living standards contributed over the past forty years, about two-thirds of the population, the remaining third had failed to economic growth.
Of Education’s share of the gross domestic product of about 10%, is also important, including the provision of free education to almost all the educational achievements. But the results of this spending has not established skills and manpower needed by Botswana. High unemployment of the limits of approximately 20% and household incomes in rural areas is much lower than in urban areas, despite the decline in the poverty rate in rural areas, but it remains very high in urban areas. As a result, income inequality in Botswana is one of the highest in the world.
